Mental Health is as Important as Physical Health

Mental Health is an important as Physical Health

Working in an industry with machines can be tough at times and can put a lot of pressure on your body, physically as well as mentally. So that is why your work environment needs to be positive and supportive as you spend a big segment of your life at your workplace.

“An employee will deliver, once they get”

Each company wants its employees to be productive and in order to keep their productivity intact, they need to make sure that their employees are happy.

Mental health is equally important as physical health. If a worker is not mentally fit, he/she will not be able to perform their activities diligently. With the advancement in technology and workplaces, companies duly understand how valuable their employees’ physical health is but do they keep equal notice of their mental health too?

As per the study, in India, approximately 36% of the workers suffer from mental illness. Depression and anxiety are just as real problems as any other physical problem. Stress is also a prevalent issue in the workplace. According to the official report, 1,610 incidents per 100,000 employees occur. In just a year, nearly half a million people have been afflicted by stress and worry and these numbers are getting worse day by day.

These figures are obviously concerning for organisations since lost working days equate to lower productivity and profits. Employees with disturbed mental health can’t work properly in a professional environment as well. When people are unhappy at work, they are unlikely to give their best effort.

The good news is that companies are becoming more aware of their own duty for safeguarding the physical and mental health of their workers. There has been a significant shift in attitudes regarding such sensitive issues. The key is to be more open-minded and have forward-thinking while making conscious efforts for the employees’ happiness.

At Hillson, to keep up the morale of our employees, we adopt a variety of practical steps to boost mental wellness in the workplace, eventually benefitting towards more productivity. We organise workshops, games evenings, plan outings, events and such, which eventually helps in team bonding and gives a mental break from the workload.

There is no exception when it comes to mental wellness!
